I think we will see more call for it and for full PDF rip. Not many inkjet address printers are powerful enough to run a full PDF rip at inkjet printing speeds. We just recently sent a similar email to our customers, but I figured I would talk about it here as well. A personalized URL (PURL) is a web page or even an entire microsite that is completely personalized with the customer's name and other personal information. A great way to deliver PURLs is to print them on direct mail pieces with your addressing printer. If your inkjet is capable, you can even print a QR code with the PURL information. When the recipients scan the codes with a smartphone or tablet PC, it will direct them to their own personalized website!

The personalization of a PURL starts with the website address; e.g. yourdomain.com/Firstname.Lastname Depending on the type of marketing campaign, personalized web pages can be utilized in many different ways. When directed to PURLs, recipients of the direct mailpieces will find forms or surveys already partially or fully filled out for them, or the entire microsite could be a customized, personal advertisement based on the customer's information.
